Image of Rikugien and Old Furukawa Garden, which is famous for its roses. A stroll connecting these two gardens.

This walk connects two gardens in Komagome.

However, this time we’ll start not from Komagome Station, but from Senkoshi Station on the Mita Line (I14). Begin your walk after taking a short break at Capital Coffee near the station. This route does not include meals, so feel free to grab a light bite before starting.

After taking a short break, head to the next spot, Rikugien Garden. It’s approximately a 5-minute walk.
After walking through a residential area, it takes about 10 minutes to reach the next spot. The path has some slight ups and downs along the way.
Walk through an old-fashioned station shopping street and head towards the next shopping street, ‘Shimofuri Ginza Shopping Street’. It takes about 10 minutes.
The next spot is about 10 minutes away. We recommend walking up a small hill on the west side of the Former Furukawa Garden, rather than taking the main road.
The next spot is a cafe located in a building adjacent to the garden. While the cafe within the garden is also good, this one is recommended as well. It’s about a 1-minute walk from the exit.
If you’re tired, you can end your walk here. The nearest stations are Nishigahara Station (N15) or JR Komagome Station. If you have some energy left, the next spot is about 10 minutes away.

The final destination is Asukayama Park, and the nearest station is JR Oji Station (Namboku Line N16 / Arakawa Line SA16).

Considering the time you’ll spend walking within each garden and park, this route may be a bit long. Fortunately, there are many stations along the way, so feel free to end your walk whenever you like. That’s the beauty of taking a stroll.

Komagome, a place that features two gardens and a large park, has a lot to offer. While not included in this route, there are also many shrines. Walking through the shopping streets and back alleys gives a quiet, green, and somewhat refined impression. It’s also a recommended route for times when you want to think deeply while walking.
